    Development engineer with extensive experience on satellite power electronics

Job Overview

The location for this position is on one of the major sites of our client in Southern Germany. Our client is one of the key players in the European satellite and launcher industries. At this site around 2500 people are employed, working on space and defense projects. The space division is specialized in Eath Observation, Navigation and Science.

As a Senior Development Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development and qualification of modules and units that are involved in satellite electrical power supply, distribution and control. Other responsibilities include leading internal design reviews and supporting the department to solve complex problems. This department develops product lines like PCDUs and high-voltage converters that will be used in various missions.


Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Analysing specifications, defining electrical functions and modules and designing, developing and qualifying new circuit modules;
  • Producing detailed designs of complex circuits, including analysis and simulation and selecting electrical components;
  • Producing documentation as per the common ECSS space standards and customer requirements, as well as assisting with circuit analyses;
  • Providing support for electromagnetic compatibility analyses and tests;
  • Preparing and performing entry-in-to-service and acceptance of the modules and carrying out qualification tests;
  • Testing of finished flight units.

Requirements

  • Completed university degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering or comparable;
  • A minimum of 6 years of work experience in Power Engineering, for example in Solar Array Power Control, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Battery Management or Charge-Discharge Control;
  • Experience in Power Electronics, like DC / DC converter design, interpretation of magnetic components, control engineering;
  • Experience with typical hardware development tools (e.g. PSpice, Mentor Dx Designer);
  • Knowledge of electrical hardware development for space projects and the corresponding standards;
  • Fluent in the English language, preferably in German as well.
