Research Award for International and German Scientists and Scholars : 2013 2014 Scholarship Positions

Every year, German Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding Max Planck research award. German and International applicants are eligible for this research award. Two awards are awarded; one for researcher working abroad and one for researcher working in Germany. The awards worth of 750,000 EUR are offered for a period of three to a maximum of five years. Applicants can apply via post by 31 January 2014.

Study Subject(s): The Max Planck Research Award 2014 will be conferred in the area of natural and engineering sciences in the subject ”Quantum Nano Science”.

Eligibility: 1. The nominee must be recognized internationally as an outstandingly qualified academic (e.g. awards, positive responses to publications, etc.).
2. Expectation of continued outstanding academic achievements in international collaboration; not least with the assistance of the award.
3. Nomination by a person entitled to make the nomination (c.f. list of eligible nominators).
4. Expert reviews by important international and German collaborative partners and/or academics.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Foreign and German scientists and scholars are eligible for this research award.

Scholarship Description: Excellent scientists and scholars of all nationalities who are expected to continue producing outstanding academic achievements in international collaboration – not least with the assistance of this award – are eligible to be nominated for the Max Planck Research Award. On an annually-alternating basis, the call for nominations addresses areas within the natural and engineering sciences, the life sciences, and the social sciences and humanities.

Number of award(s): Every year, the Humboldt Foundation and the Max Planck Society grant two research awards to one researcher working abroad and one researcher working in Germany.

Duration of award(s): Period of three to a maximum of five years for recipients to pursue research of their own choosing.

What does it cover? The Max Planck Research Award is usually endowed with EUR 750,000.

Selection Criteria: The Selection Committee makes its decision solely on the basis of the nominees’ academic qualifications.

Notification: The Selection Committee meeting will take place in spring/ summer 2013. Reviewing the applications takes four to six months. Nominees will be notified about the Selection Committee’s decision immediately after the meeting.
