Heidelberg University is inviting application for a PhD position within the Working Group Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL) of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR). Position is available for ASTOR project to establish the synchrotron X-ray microtomography as a state investigation method. The salary will be according to TVL E13 (75%). The application deadline is 30 September 2014.

Eligibility: A graduate / courses in the mathematics, computer science or similar, you can work independently scientifically, who enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams and ideally have knowledge in the following areas:
-Cloud Computing
-Scientific Visualization
-Programming languages: C ++, CUDA or OpenACC
-Very good English language skills

Scholarship Description: The Working Group Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL) of the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at Heidelberg University is concerned, under the direction of Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline interdisciplinary issues in the areas of numerical simulation, optimization, high-performance computing and cloud computing.
