Job announcement No. 110/2020

The department of „Chemical Biology“ offers

Two Postdoctoral positions in
Medicinal/Organic Chemistry (synthesis), (all genders)

The strategic aim of our department is to discover and characterize novel anti-infectives through screening, mode of action studies and chemical synthesis.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidates will be responsible for the synthetic optimization of novel antibacterial or antiviral substances. The project deals with the design and synthesis of analogues of identified hits and leads, which will be profiled in a multidisciplinary, translational team to improve their activity/selectivity and physicochemical properties. In one project, novel mechanism of drug conjugates that specifically target bacterial pathogens are probed.

Requirements:

Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. degree in synthetic organic chemistry, and a track record of successful scientific work proven by peer-reviewed scientific publications. Candidates should be highly motivated and be able to design and conduct multistep synthesis. Profound knowledge in organic chemistry, purification and analytical tools such as HPLC/MS and NMR spectroscopy are mandatory. Interested applicants should have knowledge of drug research. Experience in natural product chemistry and biological compound profiling is considered as an advantage. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary and international team is mandatory.

Offer:

The centre provides modern laboratories, state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation, ample biological profiling platforms (in vitro and in vivo), a lively scientific community and support for an individual personal development that will provide the ideal background to further develop the career of successful candidates. Equal opportunities are part of our human resource policy. With equal professional qualification, severely disabled persons will be prioritized. Part-time work is feasible.
