Gross to net salary

Hi everyone,

I got accepted at University of Bremen as a PhD student with TVL13 salary, which according to it would be 4074Euros. This would be 2580Euros if I choose tax class 1 (which is apparently for singles) without church tax according to . Is this correct, I mean can I opt out from the church tax? How can I choose tax class 3?

yep.

All singles are in Tax class 1. You can go visit the finanzamat and if you declare your religion as christian then you must pay it. otherwise not.
