Cyber-security – University of Trento

Successful candidates are considered Early Stage Researchers under the provisions of the rules of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions. Project European Training Network for Cyber-security – NeCS ETN H2020- MSCA-ITN-2015

Gross amount of Research fellowship: € 33.051/year + mobility allowance (gross amount € 5.975/year) + possible Family Allowance in addition to coverage of study and research relates expenses

Duration of the contract: 3 years

Research Fields: Computer science and Engineering

Research topics:

1: Risk metrics for vulnerabilities. This topic is devoted to the research and training in the design, development and validation of cyber-security risk assessment methodology and practical security risk metrics for critical infrastructures.
2: Attack vectors & cyber-threats. Aim of this topic is the design of methods that support cyber-security operations by improving the predictive analysis of cyber-attacks, the resilience of systems and their ability to predict, detect and respond to evolving cyber-attacks.

Eligibility criteria
The applicants should, at the time of selection, be in the first four years of their research careers (measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would entitle them to embark on a doctorate).
The applicants should not be in possession of a doctoral degree, but should have the necessary qualifications to embark on a PhD program. All the ESRs will be required to be enrolled in the PhD programs.
The applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activities (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting organization for more than 12 months in the last 3 years.

Selection process
Applications should be sent by email to the Coordinator of the NeCS consortium (necs-jobs@iit.cnr.it and in copy to p.sterlini@unitn.it) with Subject: NeCS-UNITN.
Attachments must include a single pdf file containing the following:

  • CV (with list of publications, if any, and at least two contacts for reference)
  • Research proposal
  • Statement of purpose
  • Copy of Master‘s Degree (including transcript, grades, title and abstract of Master‘s thesis).

If the degree certificate is in a language different than English, an English translation should be provided. At time of selection such translation doesn‘t need to be an official translation.
The candidates selected for the positions will have to provide an official translation (in either English or Italian).
The selection is made by the Admissions Committee on the basis of evaluation of the applicant’s qualifications. The Admissions Committee may contact the applicant for an in-depth interview or a video-interview concerning the material submitted. This interview will not entail additional points. The Admissions Committee will have 100 points. Applicants obtaining a minimum score of 60/100 will be short-listed.
