For the bioinformatics branch of this core facility, we are looking for a
Staff Scientist Bioinformatics
starting full time (40,1 working hours per week) as soon as possible.
Position: The successful candidate will be a key member of an interdisciplinary team focused on the development and application of proteomic, metabolomic and bioinformatic approaches to answer scientific questions from all branches of the life sciences. He/she will be responsible for all activities in bioinformatics within BayBioMS including IT hardware and respective software. He/she will manage and participate in collaborative projects with scientists on and off campus, train and supervise technical staff and participate in educational activities.
Requirements: PhD in a related discipline and additional experience in genomics, proteomics or metabolomics research and a strong publication record. Extensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in all aspects of omics data processing and integration as well as programming are essential. Additional important requirements include a sound understanding of biology.
We are looking for a self-motivated, highly skilled and broadly interested individual with the potential to become leader in the field. Intellectual flexibility and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment on multiple scientific and infrastructure projects focused on innovative ideas are essential. Communication skills and experiences in presenting concepts and data are also important assets.
Salary is commensurate with qualification and work experience (TV-L E13).
