German Student Visa Rejection

By admin

I see students saying that German embassy has gone messy and they are rejecting so many applications. Consider this scenario (Example) Till last year , embassy was giving about 50 visa’s for winter semester and the number of applicants were about 70. It means that only 20 cases got rejected in winter semester. Since this group had not many students last year , not many people shared their actually accept/reject ratio here. Other European countries have implemented fee’s while germany has kept the fee’s the same or have removed it completely. An international student has to pay the same money as a local student pays in the university for education. Here they say. “Education is free for all, no matter where they come from”. All the load from Finland/Sweden where most of the Pakistani students were going , had shifted to germany. So if for the same 50 visa’s there are 500 applicants, You can easily think of the ratio of acceptance and rejection. In issuing the student visa , Only the embassy is not involved but the local authorities and states are involved too. They check for their requirements , how many people can be accommodated/transport facilities etc. and so on. I remember last year , when there were so many new students coming. Accommodation was a real problem , keep international students aside , many local students had to sleep in churches for about two weeks because they just couldn’t find any room to live. The average cost of living per Sqm had increased from 200 avg to 290 euro avg (Darmstadt). Furthermore , the students are not only coming from pakistan , but from india etc too. Than there are the local students and than there are these Huge number of Erasmus exchange students. I see some students are commenting that visa refusal is due to Nato problem etc , some debate that its due to the illegal immigrants. My friend from Bangladesh tells me that from last three months , German embassy in dhaka has not issued even a interview date to the applicants , keep the issuance of visa aside. As the number of applicants increase , the processing time would def. increase with it. Even when you come to germany , the Electronic Residence permit take about 4-7 weeks to arrive.

Now we cannot do anything about how long will they take to process the visa? what we can do from our side is that to apply to the university at the earlier. Say you want to join in September. You must send your application at the end of december or in january. You will get admission letter by post in feb or say in march. You can open bank account and apply for visa in april and you will have enough time even if they take months to process it. I would also like to say that offcourse its very annoying that if everything is complete and still the visa is rejected , it makes no sense. But than again , its their home , its upto them who they let in and who they dont. The only choice we have is that can appeal against it. Using bad language here for them or the people who are already in germany legal/illegal is not going to help anyone. Raising such issues on this forum is beyond the scope of this group. I and many others like me had joined this forum to help students about study and general life questions which you may have for studying in germany. During my application and the rest of others already in germany , we had no such help from other people , no guidance. Last but not the least , i wish everyone get the visa and they come to germany for study but if they dont , we are muslims and i believe that Allah has choosen the best for us and Germany is not the end of the world!.

May be some document was missing? file a request for the reason of the rejection in written form with the embassy. After they tell it to you, rectify it and apply again. .Hopefully you will get the visa

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that. But no one but consulate will be able to tell you the reason for this. You may file an appeal within two months asking for the reason for rejection. However, these are few things that may be decisive.
1.Relevance of the course to your current qualificiation
2.Proof of sufficient funds to support education including fees.
3.Confidence that you are not a potential immigrant.

By the way, which course and University did you apply for? Also write your case in detail to have better analysis.

    ALL THE BEST!

    Hello there,
1st of all thank you for such Nice Information. Now I have some issues going on with my study visa. I had My appointment at German Embassy on August 1, 2012 for submitting papers and all formalities. They called me again on 9th of august to appear at embassy for finger prints. I had gotten admission In international Master Program in TUB Berlin. I had my all papers completed. I know that student usually get visa within 4 weeks exactly. because many of my colleagues and junior or senior session fellows have gone there for studies. Now Its been almost 6 months till the end of January 2013. But I have no clue about status of my visa. My university had extended deadlines for registration at university and to join classes 3 times. but unfortunately i still have no clue about my visa until now. I have called them several times, emailed them and also wrote letter to embassy with my signature by post mail, they tell nothing, only say that you have to wait and we don’t have any clearance from Germany yet for your visa. I am so worried and i have missed admission here in Pakistan too. I have not gotten my Passport back yet from embassy.

Is there anybody who can give me some clue if somebody had to go through the same or if anybody could tell me that what could be the reason or problem of my visa delaying.

      Dear Umar,
their process has gone terribly slow. Why dont you send email to the Rauhthaus, auslanderbehorde of your university area ( forgeiners office) and tell them about your application.. They can tell u if u have got clearence or NOT..
After that , you may also want to send email to the federal forgein office .. http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de … They have your final say about your application

Arqam , First talk to your respective RAUTHAUS/ AUSLANDER BEHORDE ( foreign office) of the town / city where your university is and ask about your visa status , if they have a negative reply , do contact the foreign federal office. try to write the contact email in german.. I am sure they will update you about your case.

    Hi.
Thanks for the info you had provided in this forum,
I would like to share, i had applied for the German Embassy for three times and rejected.
The first time i applied for visa and got refusal letter mentioning that, my concern is not clear.
Second time i had applied and got refusal letter, mentioning three points i.e., my concern is not clear for visa, funds & my intention is not clear.
Third time i had applied and got refusal letter mentioning, my intention is not clear for visa.
Also, i would like to share that before applying for visa, i had the admission letter from the German University, i have full funds and a blocked account from Deutsche bank, and sufficient funds in my sponsors (my brother) bank account.

Can you please suggest and clarify, why my visa was rejected and refused for three times. Any suggestion or instruction are most welcome.

    Please help me out.

    Thanks

      Dear Anuj ,

      Thanks for commenting here.
I am sorry for the visa refusal you have faced. I would like to mention some critical points which are valued in your for your visa.

      1) What is your basic intention? Meaning why do you choose germany ? the same course may have been offered in many other places too? , they generally check your motivation for going to germany
      2) What do you want to do after completing education? Now this is quite critical , your answer should not reflect that you are a potential immigrant.
      3) You should know what are you going to study in germany , and how it can be benefical for you in person and your country as whole.

Regarding funds , the blocked account is just for the first year , you should satisfy them that you can bear your expenses for your course duration.

I hope you find it helpful. If any more question , dont hesitate to ask! :)

      Dear Ammar ,

I am sorry to hear about your visa rejection. Did you have enough money in the blocked account? Furthermore , which university did you apply to? did you apply for visa on the same admission letter?

Also , Write a written Application and Sign it , Send it to the German Embassy asking for the reason of the rejection both times.

After knowing the reasons , you could rectify those things and re-apply.

Due to the recent increase in the applications for studying in germany they are quite strict for issuing visa. But it seems they are prefering the Engineering/IT students more then the buisness studies side. I personally feel you had a good profile. Its not embassy role to see if you would be able to complete education or not. I think you should apply for other european counties or australia etc perhaps.

      Dear Ammar ,

Thanks for stopping by and asking for help. As a student you would need to block the amount in germany for 1 year. Hence you would need to open an account here Or you can apply for a sponsor letter from someone pref. living in europe/germany. What kind of course you would like to join? , Buisness related i presume.

please check he list of Buisness related university on the following link. If you need any help. You can freely ask.

    Hello,
I applied for Language Visa for 6 months on 18/4/2013, my class was going to start on 1/7/2013. (Learning German, so that I can apply for Masters program)
Now, 3 months and 1 week has passed.
Last Friday I had an interview with the Consul asking me why I want to learn German and it was written on CV I know German. So I said it was a mistake.

My question, might my Visa get refused because my class started on 1/7/2013 and today is 25/7/2013 ?

PS: All my paper are perfect: I have a German Blocked Account, I have 1 year of Health Insurance, I have a Bachelor Degree, also I have more than 3 years of experience in IT (information technology).

I am a software engineer from Bangalore and i have over 4+ years of experience in IT industry. I got my admissions into one of the universities in Germany for MBA program and i have my visa interview coming up in a week. I am little worried about the visa and the reason is I had many back logs in my engineering and that was due to my ill health in one of the semesters and the backlogs rolled into the next semesters at the end i had 15 marks sheet in the place of 8 marks sheet, i have all other documents for the Visa in place but i could not get a consolidated marks card.

I would like to know if this will be a problem in getting my Visa.

      Dear @Anand,
The Visa process also includes the verification from German federal office from berlin. They check the background for security and also if one is in the blacklist etc within the EU countries and such. The main requirment is that if you get verified by the foriegn office of the State / city you applied to you will get the visa. Sometimes , the delay occurs in berlin , but you shall hear from them very soon. Dont be dissappointed and hope for the best.

      Dear Sunny,
The chances are less , because your university has already accepted you. Just be confident and try to explain your self in good way and also your goals. All shall be good.

    Dear Admin,

I applied for a language visa for 6 months, and all the documents were perfect (with financial proof).
Any idea what the below says:

Ihr Antrag vom 18.04.2013 auf Erteilung eines Visums

    Sehr geehrter Herr Mohammad,

      Dear Muhammad ,

It says that you can study the desired course in Lebanon too. Also your contempt for visa could not be verified hence the German Foreign office has denied your visa request.

I think its better if you apply for a Univeristy/Hochshule course , hence you will have better chances.

    Dear Admin,
I did my B.Sc. in Telecom Engg. and got admitted in M.Sc. Electrical Systems Engineering from Universitat Paderborn (who sent the scanned copy of admission letter on 28th Aug, 2013). My registration deadline is Oct 7, 2013. Furthermore, after creating blocked account in Deutche Bank I got an appiontment date from German embassy on 17 September, 2013. My questions are:

    1. Can my visa application be rejected on basis of been given embassy appointment date so late i.e. very near to start of the program?
    2. What are the general questions they may ask during an interview?
    3. How well do you rank Universitat Paderborn?
    4. My B.Sc. degree is attested from HEC, Pakistan but matric/F.Sc. degrees are not. Is attestation for theses degrees neccessary too?

Also, I would like to express my deep appreciation on creating this forum and helping us out.

Your help regarding my questions and any additional help will be highly appreciated.

    Regards,
    Muhammad Ahmad

      Dear M. Ahmad,

      Please find your answers below:

      1) Not necessarily , perhaps you can ask your course co-coordinator to give you some sort of letter to process your visa soon , and also request the embassy to process it sooner , if it wont happen , the embassy would contact you regarding this what to do , but rejection no.

      2) General Questions include: why you want to come to Germany? what is your course? what are the contents? how is it going to help you and your country? how you are going to finance your studies , what are you going to do after your study, tell them your education history.

      3) In germany university are not ranked as other think , every public university offers same level of the best education you can get. So if the course is interesting , just go for it.

      4) Embassy does not need any type of attestation. But if you get a visa , its beneficial to bring some attested documents and photocopies with you. Perhaps from a notary public.

We are always here to help and all the information is free. Also we have added forum section , hence you can post such questions there too , with ease. http://germanystudy.net/forums/forum/visa-problems/

I’m sorry I wasn’t clear but my point was that the embassy here is telling students that the problem with the visa delay is from Germany and I have to make sure if I got the visa or not soon (by september 20th). So is there a department in Germany which I could call to check on my application or are they too busy with the amount of applications?

    Thank you,
P.S: Is true they are rejecting students who have all the documents required and qualifications based on availability?

    Dear Admin,

My visa application date was 26/07/2013. I completed my visa interview on 03/09/2013. My course starts on October 1st 2013. I got a message stating “Processed Application for the applicant has been received on 06/09/2013 from the German Consulate in South,Chennai. Please collect the same from the center where it was submitted” in my mobile. This means my visa has been approved? If no, Do I have to wait for a long time? I have credited my blocked account before the day of interview and also all other documents were there. I am worried because my friends say that they’ll take over an month to process my application.

Please let me know about the process of approval.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

      Dear Samman ,

Consediring the time taken by the ISB embassy for the visa process , you cannot join this semester. Does your program also runs in summer semester? If yes , please tell your university to differ your admission to the next semester , hence you will have enough time etc.
If its only winter semester. Sadly you have to wait for the next year. Or you can apply for admissions for the coming summer semester in other programs

Perhaps you can try in another university or another course? If everything remains the same , you may face a rejection again.

    Dear Admin,
My interview was on 17th sep but now after my visa interview, they have send me another couple of questionnaires via email named “Anlage 3 – Fragebogen langfristiger Aufenthalt” and “Student-Zusatz”. What are these for? How can I fill my research work as I am going for just masters?

      Dear Ahmad,
This is common , and you can fill it.

In Research type whatever you wish to do in future or what you have interests in.

In Professor/Head , write the dean of the Programme you applied in . Talk to your course co-ordinator for this info.

feel free to post further if you need help
