Visa Rejected?

My Visa application was rejected. What do I do now?

If you are of the opinion that the decision of the Embassy was incorrect, please explain in writing, why you have this opinion and request for the re-checking of the rejection of your visa application. You will receive a short explanation in note form regarding the reasons for the rejection of your application when you receive your passport. Please discuss the reasons for rejection in your written request for the checking (remonstration). The processing of a remonstration requires several weeks. The embassy will thereby respond to your remonstration and review the application.

1. Alternative:

  • If we come to the conclusion, that an additional interview could help, we send you a written invitation to an interview.
  • If we can in the course of the discussion follow your reasoning, you will receive a visa.
  • If we cannot follow your reasoning, you will consequently receive a written notice by post, against which you can file a court case against the Federal Republic of Germany with the Administrative Court in Berlin within one month of receipt of the notice. Pursuant to Paragraph 23 Section 1 of the Administrative Procedure Act official language is German. For this reason all notices are to be written in German. If you do not understand German, you can have the notice translated by your sponsor or a professional translator. The Embassy does not provide translation services.

2. Alternative

  • If we are of the opinion, that our decision does not require an additional discussion with you as the applicant, then you will receive a detailed written notice by post, against which you can file a court case against the Federal Republic of Germany with the Administrative Court in Berlin within one month of receipt of the notice.
  • Berlin High court is extreme step, & charge can be as high as 5000 Euros.. and even one CAN NOT be sure of getting VISA

In the case that you have received a written notice following the remonstration, you have a period of one month following delivery of the notice to you for the filing of a court case against the Federal Republic of Germany with the Administrative Court in Berlin. Please wait in any case until you have received the notice. You can, alternatively, submit a new application and should hereby respond especially to the reasons for the rejection of your previous application and try to clear these up through the submission of the appropriate documents.

    Dear Admin,

I wrote here a few weeks ago about my visa status, 3 days ago my embassy calls me and tells me that they couldn’t read my university grades (A,B,C…) and that my application had been stopped for 3 months without me knowing any sooner than 3 days ago! (I applied on 21st of June!!!!) Anyways I submitted my university grading scale and now I have to wait all over again, however my university does not have a problem if I arrive in December since it is a masters program. Will the Foreign Office contact the university concerning admission or reject my application immediately because I am late? Please help me so that I have time to notify the embassy about my late admission acceptance.

    Thank you.

    • admin

      Dear Ali ,

They might reject it with this reason , i would suggest that you talk to the university and ask for enrollment extension letter and submit it to the embassy , so that they know that university has no problem with it.

      Hello Admin,
I got rejected twice. The first time the reason was they doubt my serious intention to study. I appealed but I was rejected again, the reason being that I have little knowledge of the course I want to study, Germany and the city where the university is located. According to them my major reason is to go stay with my step brother. Can I convince them that they are wrong? Is there any point applying for anoda visa? As they would refer to the old application before deciding to give me a visa.

  • Dear Admin

Recently I got rejection from german embassy. it takes 26 days. my all documents were completed and there is nothing wrong. each and every thing is according to their requirement. but still embassy send me a letter that my intentions are doubted and I cannt be granted visa. please tell me what to do. any chance on appeal. my cgpa is also very good and I have strong profile. the university in which I got admission is also in TU9. please help me

    Dear Admin,

I wrote to you here about my problem and since then I gave the embassy the admission extension till november 21. I am sooo worried about this, what do you think my chances are (honestly) of getting my visa before november 21, and do the foreign office take that deadline in consideration and speed up their decision?

    Thank you.

    Dear Admin,

I wrote to here about my problem a few days ago, and since then I gave the admission extension letter to the embassy. Now I am so worried about waiting again after waiting the entire summer in vain, and I honestly want to know what are my chances of getting a visa before november 21st, and will the foreign office in Germany consider this deadline and speed up their decision?

    Thank you for everything!

      Hi ,

Generally if the visa wont be processed in time , they will ask you to wait for the next intake. Lets hope for the best

    Dear Admin

My visa was rejected twice. First time I thought I was rejected due to absence of SD2 certificate which is one of the requirement for the enrollment in University of Duisburg-Essen. I wrote that and cleared the exam and attended the interview again with all the required documents, but the treatment was same. I have an decent aggregate in bachelors, sufficient IELTS score, SD2 cleared certificate, eventhough I was rejected. Both times I received the Passport after 1 month with rejection letter, but the rejection letter was typed next day of my interview. Why is this happening to me only, my fellowmates who had the same documents has already gone Germany to continue their studies, but i was still here and searching for the reason for my rejection. I differed my admission to next semister i.e March intake. Perhaps, I was very frightened about my next step. Please help me to solve the issue.

    Thanks & Regards

      Hi ,

rather than just thinking about the reasons by urself , you should ask the embassy for the reason for the rejection of your visa application. Please look at this post on how to proceed.

        Hello Admin

I send so many mails to them, they didn’t send reply for even one. 2nd time I didn’t even got the reason with rejection letter. They just send me the rejection letter. How to send a written letter to them, either through E-mail or through any other source? If there is any source please tell me.

        Thanking you

  • Pvnswaroop

Sending postal mail to direct Chennai Embassy will give any result? I man will they definitely give reply for my post?

    Dear Admin,
I got an admission confirmation via email in a German TU on 7th Oct 2013, but the problem is the course has already started from 1st Oct, in which the first two weeks are orientation and from 14th Oct the real classes start.
In the admission letter it is clearly indicated that though the classes start in Oct 2013, I can enroll till 7th Feb 2014! That means the University has no prob if I get enrolled late for the course, only I will miss the classes.
In this case, should I go for visa interview right now, though I am late to apply? (In fact, the reason for applying late for visa is only because I got late confirmation from the university.)
Please guide me, should I go for visa right now? And if I go, what are the chances of getting rejected only on the basis of late application?
Thank you in advance for all you kind attention and guidance.

    • admin

IF its written in the admission letter that you can join till FEB 14 , then go for it. The chances of rejection are more if it didnt say the last date you can join.

  • Pvnswaroop

    Hello admin

I send a postal mail to chennai embassy about my rejection, I didn’t receive any reply from them as i sent that on 16th october. I received a differed admission letter from my University for the Summer Semester. I want to apply for the visa again for the third time for the same university as I have no other option.
What are the things keep in mind for this 3rd time visa application?
I enrolled for B1 language in Duisburg which is starting from Jan 20th, I had my Sd2 certificate(66%). The main requirement for the enrollment is SD2, I had it already. Please help me to restart my process. This time I dont want to happen the same as like happend in 2nd time.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Admin,

I contacted the Foreign office in Stuttgart concerning my visa application and they said that they didn’t receive it yet. I would like to ask you how can I contact the federal office, maybe they received the application first. Anyway, I will contact the embassy also, since its been a month since my application was submitted.

    Kind Regards,
    Ali.

  • Mohamed Ashik

Well hey there admin. I went through all these questions and pretty much my situation is alike like Mr.Ali here. I don’t think remonstration would be a good idea as anyways their reasons and explanations for rejections will be still general and nothing to carry on, rather just reapply freshly. If this is what you also think the best for an applicant at this position, give me your frank feedback putting yourself in our shoes. But the problem now is that VFS office doesn’t accept visa student applications now and wants me to approach the embassy directly. So I wrote them an email concerning my visa rejection details, and allegations. Also I asked them for an appointment to sort this out in person. Is it really gonna work out that they respond me through mail and ask me to come in person for submission or something? Or I just go directly there to embassy next working day? Or I just have to buckle up and wait

Feeling already exhausted provided that today is friday that I got rejection letter, and Monday is far away

    • admin

If you dont know the reasons of rejection , you re-apply , 80 percent chances are that you will get rejected again. So i say that you ask them for the reasons. Change university , apply in confidence with the visa office. I am not sure how is the embassy treating guests at your place. Perhaps call them and ask them how to proceed , if they are not helpful , may be you should contact the german federal foriegn office in berlin about that.

  • Mohamed Ashik

Hey there, that was a devastating straight answer. But i get it. Without the knowledge of my err, I am still gonna end getting rejected. Thanks Bai.
As of now, I have emailed the consulate here, the guy mentioned on the rejection letter and the federal foreign office in berlin about the reasons of my rejection. I am following up every thing carefully and your page too. I mostly think its the time delay that college already started so they didn’t have a choice other than rejecting it which is too late. And to mention I just have 60% with many backlogs and fortunately I got into the Darmstadt University only. I dont want to miss this ultimate opportunity and so I am applying for the same University mentioned Visa application again. Let’s hope for the BEST!
    Insha Allah
    Asalaamu Alaikum

    • admin

      Dear Ashik , Walikum Salam

That is why , the reason of the rejection is very necessary. If its only the delay in your course start , then its easy. You ask your university to differ your admission to the next intake , and apply well in time for the second time. If there is something else , and if you dont correct it , they will reject you. Hopefully it would be the late visa application.

  • Mohamed Ashik

    Hello
    Asalamu Alaikum

how are you today? The point I wanna make is that the visa office located in Chennai have replied to my email saying that the Foreign Aliens Authority in Germany must have rejected my visa because of the late arrival which is 25th Oct and the University must have started by Oct 1st. In cases of late applications, the Foreign office double checks with the respective University and informs about the rejection. So in my case he says that its because of late application.
Now after all, I asked him that since i got my Admission deferred to summer and the answer was to apply again as soon as possible. I already got a interview date which is 20th November :-)
This time I want to make it completely perfect. Can you provide me some help on Visa cover letters and the Interview questions ? I would really appreciate your help on that
    Thanks

    With regards
    Mohamed Asik Rahman

    Dear Admin,

It is almost 3 months since my application was re-processed, and I have already passed my registration deadline for my Masters program. I would like to withdraw the money from the blocked account, and I would like to ask you if I could do this without any visa decision or refusal since I cannot enroll anymore and I have no intention of going to Germany anymore. Will the embassy give me the instructions and letter for account closure, or will they make me wait for a visa decision which only God knows when!!

    Kind Regards,
    Ali.

  • PRAVIN

    hello admin

should I reapply ? I can improve in the mentioned reasons. what you will advice to me..

    regards

    • admin

You should convince them , that after you finish your study , you will come back to to serve your country. Funds are okay i guess. I think work on this and re-apply. If they still reject you , tell them to reconsider.. if they still reject.. well germany is not the end of the world.

  • alma

    hello admin

is it ok to only have funds for one year of germany study? i only had transferred one year to my DB locked account and afraid this would reason visa rejection. thanks. my proposed study time is about 2 years master course.

    • admin

      Dear Alma ,

1 year funding is required for VISA. Most of the people are granted visa with that amount.

        Hello Admin,

thank for very fast reply.. do i need have accomodation to have bigger chances student visa? i not have accomodation currently, will find one when visa granted though, is it bad for my student visa app? thanks

        • admin

          Dear Alma,
Most students live in the student hostels offered by studeneternwerk of that city/university. It mostly does not effect your visa approval chances. Also you should not pay anything to anyone before seeing the place like if u get offered from private landlords etc. APply for ask your course co-rdinator how to apply for accomodation

          regards

            Hello again admin

Do you know how many 1 year fund need to Berlin. I deposited only 7908 euro to blocked account, i read it from study-in.de website i need 7908. I heard need much more if I study master course Berlin. Is this true, I need more? Or 7908 euro enough already? Thanks

    • admin

Dear Alma, The amount is same for All over germany. I am not sure if they increased this year. how much did you write on the blocking form of bank? earlier it was 7908 Euro. check your embassy website for it.

      regards
      Admin

      • alma

ya it was 7908 eur as written embassy requirement. also askd embassy about this, they said refer to document. so i think transferred right amount blocked account. thank you very much! very appreciated

        • admin

          Dear Alma ,
You are okay then. You can also email admin@germanystudy.net incase you need more help.

i have read that even though someone already his/her funds one year in Germany, there possibility that visa officer asks how he will fund his next years (2nd and 3rd). how can we get by this question? does he need bring additional finance docs aside sperrkonto confirm?

          • admin

once you are in germany , they will extend. No problems there..

  • sweety

    Dear Admin,

My course is a 2 yr course and the course fee is around 8000 Euros/ yr

How much should I show in the blocked account?

Do I need to show whole 2 yr tuition fee plus additional 7000 Euros?

    • Hi ,
Well the 8000 Euro you generally need to show does not include any tution fee. So , i guess you would need to show additional money. I think it is better to ask the embassy consulate regarding this.
Also , why are you choosing a course that you need to pay? There are enormous amount of other courses which are available without such huge fee’s.

      Regards

  • Varun Saxena

    Dear Admin,

After looking at some of my academic documents, the visa officer told me that she will not give me a good review. I have first class engg. degree, gre 303, toefl 96. I had given improvement exams in 12th and percentage is 63, 10th with 78%. Experience in Nokia Siemens Networks. After having a look at some of the other documents she said it would be her worst decision to give me a visa. The problems which happened were that my original admission letter was not received by me and i could only show a colored print of scanned mail sent to me. The VFS guy told me that it is not necessary to show the original letter and visa officer told me that i shouldn’t have asked the VFS instead I should have asked embassy. She asked me to show the letter of the company in which i am working but I told her that I am doing a part time job because I had to prepare so many documents. She became angry and told me that I am not that much studious and I am doing nothing. When she gave me my passport back with a stamp and a receipt, I told her I hope this is not a reject and she told me that she is not the authority. Now I am waiting for their email or phone call. I had answered well all the questions given to me A4 sheet. If the officer writes a bad review then i think it is obviously a reject, isn’t it?

    • Dear Varun,

I am sorry that such situation occured with you. It generally should not be a problem. The comments of the visa officer ALL in ALL does not get your visa rejected but yeah you should have the original letter of admission and other required documents. Recently they have become more strict on the visa policy and they just want to find small problems to reject the visa.
What course did you apply for ? it also depends on that. Germany is in need of engineers and computer scientists so they are a bit linear in that field.
Anyways , she can just write your comments , the visa is authorized by the local authorities and and the foreign office in berlin.
So what i can say is that , you have to wait for the outcome. If it is a reject , find why did they reject you , and you can re-appear next time with corrections to the previous case.

      Best of luck.

  • Khaliq

    Salam Admin,

My problem is a bit different than others, Actually I have transferred money to DB. But few days after transfer something happened in my personal life and now I am not willing to go to germany. I have an appointment with german embassy after few days. I almost fulfill all of their requirements i.e. admission to a university, funds etc. Can you please tell me a way out that I can get back my money without being stamped as rejected? Thanks

    • Sorry Khaliq ,

I just saw this comment. Was your problem solved?

      • Khaliq

No it is even worse now, I have received my German visa which is going to be effective from 10 Oct. is there any way out?

        • Greetings ,

Its not that difficult. Just inform the embassy and they will cancel the visa. The cancellation of visa is not the same as rejection. They wont put a rejection stamp. Furthermore , you can also ask them to give you a letter that the visa is cancelled because of personal reasons.

          Regards
          Admin

          • Khaliq

Thanks for great advice, You made my day. Just curious what would be the post-effects. Like if I don’t have immigration stamp on my German visa then will it be a drawback if I later apply to some other country, and also how Germany will consider me in future, Either they will block me or it would be a plus point of already having a German visa.

          • I think there is nothing to worry. It is perfectly all right that something personal came up and you are not going for your study anymore. Rather then , just not informing embassy and let the visa expire , it is better to tell them that you are not going hence they can update the system.

Plus i don’t think it is going to effect anything , you were granted a visa and i suppose once you are cleared , if you plan to apply later on the process will be alot faster , and you had already passed necessary checks.

as i previously mentioned , perhaps ask them for a letter that you cancelled the visa because of personal reasons , I am not sure they will make some letter , but offcourse keep your case number etc with you , incase you need it later on.

            Cheers
            Good day from Germany

          • Khaliq

            Salam Admin,

I have sent following documents for closure of DB bank account which are delivered on 21 October at DB bank.
            – Embassy letter to request de-blocking of account.
            – Signed Closure order request from DB bank website, containing information regarding bank account where that amount needs to be transferred.
My question is how long DB bank take to send the amount? I haven’t received it yet.
Furthermore is there any email/phone of DB bank where I can consult about my transfer status?

            Regards

  • Hi.I opened blocked account in Deutsche Bank. For personal reasons i will not come to Germany and withdrawned my visa.So i want to get the money back.I read in the website but didnt understood what documents do i need to send to close the account and get money back to me.Can you write here which documents do i need? Thanks

    • Hello Anudeep P,

      From DB website:

If you wish to close your account and transfer the balance to another account, we require a document from the local german immigration office responsible for issuing of the residence permit, which contents the deblocking of your account or a „consular certificate“ issued by the German embassy or consulate stating that your visa application has been denied and written instructions to close the account and transfer the balance. Be advised that a visa refusal, a deregistration or a border crossing certificate is not acceptable for us.
It is mandatory to send both documents in original to:
      Deutsche Bank Privat und Geschäftskunden
      Ausländische Studenten
      Alter Wall 53
      20457 Hamburg
      Deutschland

In order to quickly and correctly process the closure of your account, we require the signed account closure application (in original) as well as the following details:
Name and address of the transfer recipient
      Recipient’s account number/IBAN
      Recipient’s sort code/BIC
Name and address of the recipient’s bank

The form can be found HERE

      Regards Admin

  • Talal

I live in another country not home country, my father made letter of obligation front of German embassy in my home country and provided me with his bank account. but the german embassy here asked me for a form from embassy not only letter with signature, when I told them the German embassy approve only this paper, but after 2 days my visa application reject and been told the reason, not enough financial proof.
I contacted embassy in my home country and they confirm that my papers are right, but German embassy refused also to admit my financial sufficient and they asks for Block account in Germany only.
    is that legal?!!

    • Dear Talal ,

Did you create a document called Verpflichtungserklärung?? your father’s letter and bank account statement isnt sufficient proof.. The blocked account is the best and the most successfull way of getting your visa.

German embassy can ask / reject any document as they wish , as stated on their website so if they ask for a blocked account then , rather contesting them , work with them and submit a blocked account.

      Regards

  • Rakesh

Hi.. I attended visa interview on 25th August in Chennai. But still I have not received the visa confirmation. My classes starts on 12th October.

Students who applied after me got their visa. Is Chennai consulate making delays purposefully so the students need to get suffered and waste their months and life waiting for visa? Why the university provides admit letters and the embassy makes the delay or rejects it? Inspite of sending visa status to neither immigration office nor embassy office, none replies for it. Say me a best solution to get my visa soon.

    • Dear Rakesh,

Admission in a german university doesnt necessarily mean you will also get a visa for your study in Germany , since both of them are two different things. None of the consulates can waste someone’s months for no reason. Sometime , like any other govt. office a case/file get;s delayed since there are many of the offices involved in the visa issuance procedure.

The best advise which we always give to students is to apply for admission as soon as possible to get the admission letter sooner and hence you will have much more time for your classes , even if there are delays in the visa.

Did you try contacting the Auslanderbehorde in which your university is in?

      Regards
      Admin

      • Rakesh

I mailed international office where the university lies in, but no replies yet. At least if they say my visa status I will be happy to track where the delay happens and solve it. Even I mailed the federal office, Berlin regarding the visa delay. No response yet.

    • Rohan

      Hey Rakesh and Admin,

Even I applied for my visa on 6th August and I haven’t received any reply yet from the German consulate and even my university is in Berlin could you let me know as to what do the Berlin international office reply as my embassy told me that no one picks up the phone in auslanderbehorde and a lady in the German consulate in India told me that there is a minimum waiting period of 3 months for visa applications in Berlin due to refugees.

Dear admin could you please tell me whether the lady is right or not because I have been constantly calling her up so according to me she must have said it so I stop calling the embassy ?

Has my visa got rejected ?

Please admin can you reply I need your help it is very urgent

      Thank you

      • Greetings Rohan ,

She is right.. Even in germany , they are not sending applications residence permit applications to berlin for extensions rather giving them temp. extensions.

It seems that you must wait.

        Regards

    Hi, Admin!

I applied for a student visa last 27 April and received a rejection letter on 11 June. I sent a remonstration letter on 26 June along with additional documents and received an email on 1 July. The email consists a message telling me that they will review my application again. It has been three months and I heard no response since then. Is this normal? I am not sure if I should reapply or email them; although they clearly stated that I should avoid updating them since it will delay the process. I am getting really anxious.

Will wait for your reply, thank you so much!
