Family Reunion – Pakistan – General info for all to avoid mistakes

Dear Members Assalam-o-Alaikum,
I am writing this email to let members know few things about family reunion and some mistakes which must be avoided. If some friend is going to get married  in Pakistan, please tell him/her about these issues. Simple looking mistakes can cause big trouble and delay later in family reunion.
About Nikah Registration:
Registration of Nikah involves three people:  Nikah Khawan, Nikah Registrar  and Union council. UC gives a register with 50 leaves to Nikah-Registrar. Each leave contains Nikah Nama ” Form II” in quadruplicate. In one UC , only a single Registrar can have the register.  In usual case, Nikah Khawan goes to Registrar(if he is himself not a registrar) and gets a Nikah nama Form II (which has fours copies). One copy each (filled and signed) is given to  Duhla, Dulhan,Registrar and UC.
1. Take care that Nikah is registered at the same Union Council where Nikah has taken place .Address written on filled Nikahnama should be in the UC where Nikah is registered.  Any thing different to this created big problem for many ,especially those who did Nikha in a Marriage Hall and brought Molvi sahib from some other UC. If you made this mistake, count a delay of at least 3 months. Embassy will raise objection as the lawyer sent for Marriage verification would like to see your Nikah registered at the same UC as address written on Nikahnama. You may be to asked to change registration of your marriage from one UC to other through a court procedure in Pakistan.
2. Please closely check all the four copies of the filled Nikah-Nama for any mistake in names, ID card nr., date of birth etc. Check that all signatures are there at right place and stamp of Nikah-Registrar is present. Many take things lightly in Pakistan while filling forms.
3. Telephonic Nikah is big no no. You must be present there as German Embassy/consulate now checks it from entry and exit stamps on your passport. If there are some unavoidable circumstances, give a written power of attorney which has legal value i.e signed in front of Notary Public/judge or from Pakistani embassy/consulate (in case they deal with it) to your father to represent you during Nikah.  Better be present there. Your absence will complicate the matters and hence the delay/rejection as a consequence.
4.  Carefully read the requirements of Embassy for Family reunion. If any question arises, call embassy to get an answer. Don’t rely blindly on the info collected from here and there.
5. Some people I talked to have made mistake while getting online appointment. You mad a mistake in name, passport number or email address than most probably you will not be able to submit documents on that day. In my experience, if you decide to take an appointment for family reunion, you normally get it after 4 to 6 weeks. So missing an appointment can be source of further delay.6. The interview by lawyer or at embassy may involve basic questions from your spouse about you. Newly married; make sure he/she has all the basic info about you.

7. Spouse of a Blue Card holder is exempted from providing A-1 German language certificate. About this, don’t believe on what they say on phone :). If your spouse can’t manage to do a language course in Pakistan, present following reference of the concerned Law  as proof on your appointment day:

8. In some cities, there were cases when Ausländerbehorde(ABH) objected that the spouse in Germany is passing through the probation period of job.  In some cities ,they ask for salary slips of 6 months while in others only for 3 months or just a job contract. Talk to other Pakistanis/Indians who have experience of dealing with the same ABH  so that you can proceed accordingly.

Please correct if I am wrong on any account. The info is based on posts of members on this forum, experiences of acquaintances and my personal experience.

If you know some other issues which you or someone known to you faced, kindly share on this forum. This will facilitate others in their family reunion.

  2. Get an e-mail from embassy “submit following docs” what does this means? Either via email or personally ? Nothing mentioned in email

      1. signature of nikah khawan is missing on marriage certificate. Required documents are Court order and nikah nama with signature.
        In previous email embassy write no doubt in marraige and applicant documents is fine. only nikah khowan signature is missing.

          1. getting a court order is not an easy process, it takes more than a month. but it depends for what you need a court order?

          2. court order which give permission to nikah khawan to do signature on marriage certificate.
            In my case nikah khawan is also registror…
            Nikah khawan did signature as registaror but forget as nikah khawan…
            applicant other documents are fiine
            no doubt in marraige
            only one signature is missing that why need court order..
            without court order nikah khawan is not allowed to do signature on marriage certificate..
            My question is how i submit court order and nikah nama after signature because in email nothing is mention how to submit. just write submit the documents.

        2. AOA,
          I would say send them via TCS, but don’t forget to mention your case # (i.e. photocopy of your bank chalan form). Additionally, you can scan your doc and send it to embassy via email too.

          Because, for me when i visited them personally to submit my degree equivalence certificates. the guy sitting at counter (rudely) asked me why did you travel all the way to Islamabad from Lahore ? just to submit documents. As i told him the same statement, that it was not mentioned how should i submit you the docs and i was not sure that whether you guys accept them via TCS or not therefore, here i am.
          But he rudely said, ok handover the docs to me and you can go back. :(

          eventually after a month i got my (work) Visa.

    Does anyone here got family reunion visa in near past ? I wanted to know following:
    1. Is one travel insurance for whole family (my wife & two kids) acceptable or i have to get three independent insurances ?
    2. The travel (ticket) as well as insurance starting date could be after 2-3 months ? e.g. if i have to visit embassy today 22 Feb 2018, and i get the ticket of 1st May. will it be acceptable ?

    1. you dont need to buy ticket for family reunion visa,you need travel insurance and you can buy travel insurance for whole family the agent you buy from will give you details,also your visa will start from the day your insurance is starting but if embassy has called you for visa now i will recommend to get your insurance starting from 1st of april atleast dont get an insurance with too much time,they will just ask more questions,visa will be valid for three months so if date is 1st april on visa it will be valid till june you can get ticket anywhere in between that

        1. @cloud …Can you please tell me documents attest hony zarrori ha ? Mjhy agent kh rha emabssy attest documents ko. Manti nhi wo khti iski zarorat nhi Jo 30 k hum fees lty wo verification hm khud krwaty k document oringal ha ya nhi….tu Kya ma attest kiye Bina e submitted krwa skti hu ?

            yes no need of attestation, and yes, embassy will verify them via Laywer. Just submit them as it is. And which agent are you talking to ? you don’t need to involve any agent because, agents can’t do anything, secondly embassy has not outsourced such actions to anyone.

      Just wanted to share my experience with you. I visited embassy yesterday(27th Feb 2018) to get visa stamped. i got Air Ticket + Health Insurance of 3 months with the start date of 15 April 2018 ( as i have to attend some wedding functions here in Pakistan). But Embassy created problem for me stating that they will not accept this insurance. I have to get insurance with start date of maximum 1 month.( that means 27 Mar 2018).
      Therefore, i have to go back to DSS shuttle service got new insurance from there and then get back to embassy.
      Then embassy kept me waiting for 3 hours and eventually handed over the stamped visa for my family reunion case.

      I asked the same question before getting the first insurance, to embassy via email. And guess what ? they replied the same sh***ty reply that all info is available over site bla bla bla. Whereas, in reality the scenario is different.

      So i decided to share my experience with you so that some1 could get benefit. JazakAllah khair.

        Applied for appointment in system on 24 July 2017.
        Got appointment of 17 October 2017
        Lawyer visited 23 Nov 2017
        My spouse got letter in Germany from ABH on 25 Nov 2017 to send them docs by post. (ABH gave my spouse almost 1 month to submit docs within)
        My spouse sent docs to ABH by 1st Dec 2017.
        After that we didn’t hear anything untill 22 Feb 2018.

        Got visa call from Embassy on 22 Feb 2018.
        Visited embassy and got my visa on 27 Feb 2018. Alhamdolillah.

          Yes i was extremely disappointed & depressed at first,.It appeared to me that it would take 1 year to get visa, But trust me its not the case. All those people who get visa in 3-4 months, don’t usually post their experiences. So don’t loose hope and don’t be pessimistic.
          Have faith in Allah (swt) and keep patience. May Allah (swt) be with you all and soften up matters for all of you.

          I got information from ABH that they have already sent the information to Embassy in Islamabad in the end of January 2018 but its been almost more than 1.5 months we have not heard anything from Embassy. Is that normal and should we inquire from Embassy?

          1. Hi Arsalan,
            Usually embassy contacts you within 1-2 weeks of getting confirmation from ABH. Have you/ your spouse missed any call (0512007) like number ?

            I think you should contact embassy and ask about status. ( As per embassy you can only inquire about your case via written & signed letter).

          2. I have tried to contact the embassy through email but they have not replied yet. No we have not gotten any call from embassy. As i frequently ask my wife about this too.

            I have no idea why its taking that much time.

            You will not get any response over email. I told you to contact them via signed application. I mean, if your wife is the main applicant, then she should write a letter to embassy and send them via TCS etc.

            Embassy won’t reply over email.

          In your case too after submission of documents to ABH they took almost 3 months to issue the visa ?

          You have mentioned your spouse submitted the documents on 1st Dec 2017 and you got the visa call on 22nd of Feb?

          Did you inquire through signed application to Embassy and if yes did they reply?

Got an email from embassy they said you submitted saudia arbain birth certificate …please contact with Riyadh German embassy and legalize your birth certificate and then submitted it ……can any one help in this regard k kesay legalize higa …Mera tu saudia m koi b nhi Kya wahan Jana pryga

          2. If you know someone then say to him there to go german embassy riyaz and then legalize it they will attest it then you can submit it to embassy but i think in saudia they will see your original certificate so you habe to find solution by yourself how you can find it

            Bro first of all you have to understand the difference between, ABH and German Embassy Islamabad. The process is like, you submit your visa application in German Embassy Islamabad and then embassy sends (one copy set of your) documents to Germany (ABH Dept). Where firstly they contact your spouse to send them (ABH) a few more documents ( to verify your spouse’s German based documents along with your document set copy). Then ABH takes almost 3-4 months to process them there in Germany. Upon clearance ABH gives green signal to Islamabad Embassy via email then they(embassy guys) call you within 1-2 weeks after getting that green signal.

            So, if your spouse has just sent the documents to ABH there in Germany, then you should expect 2-3 months of their processing time. After that you will get call inshaAllah.
            However, if ABH has confirmed (f2f or via any letter/email) to your spouse that they have approved your case. Then you should get call within 1-2 weeks after that confirmation.

            Hope it helps.

            Note: all timelines in my comment are optimistic.

          4. Thanks dear i got it now. I have sent the documents to ABH around in the end of January so that means it will take around 2 to 3 months more according to this timeline.

          6. Embassy mailed me “You have to travel to Saudi Arabia in order to have your birth certificate legalized. Before that, you need to arrange an appointment with the German Embassy Riyadh.

        1. My birth place is saudia so I have my oringal Arabic saudian birth certificate …I do not have any Pakistani certificate regarding to birth ….will this create problm ?

        2. I would suggest to get atleast its English Translation and Notarize ( from Zillah Kachehry) as well.
          In case embassy asks, you can present that to them. Or vice versa, if you can get English Translated Birth Certificate from the same Saudi Authority, that would be best.

I don’t have any resources to get English translated birth certificate from saudia now because we have been migrated here from past 23 years,,,…do you think embassy will raise objection about birth certificate as it orignal one …can I attest this certificate from Saudi embassy in Pakistan will it make any help ?

            I think you can take it to the Saudi embassy and get it attested / legalized. That might work as well!!

            Ask German embassy what they want!!

    2. AoA. Kia embassy ne pehlay wali late registration ko cancel karnay kay baad new registration karwanay ka kaha ha?
      Actully meray saath aik ajeeb tarah ka masla ban gaya ha. I am currently living in Germany. I have applied for marriage in Germany and my all documents were sent to Embassy Islalambad for legalization. Inquiry was done and all documents came back after clearance but embassy wrote in remarks that Birth certificate is ok,but formally incorrect,(mean, there was no age assessment report was created). Ab yahan ki higher coury jo shadi ki ejazat daiti ha us ne embassy kay remarks parh kar case halt kar diya aur kaha k main embassy se raabta karun aur iss malsay ko solve karun.
      Kia koi bata sakta ha k iss surat mei kia karna paray ga jab main Pak mei mojood hi nehi tu medical repory kaisay banwaon aur us kay beghair kia dubaara late registration ho gi aur again inquiry?please anyone can share his/her experience in this regards. Thanks

      I hv talked to a lawyer, he didnt know the procedure. He says, against whom are we going to file the petition? I think i should talk to other lawyer..

    Guys I wanted to know about the family reunion via process and requirements from Pakistan to Germany. My brother resides there and he holds a German citizenship ( German Passport ) so can you guys pls let me know If I can apply for a family reunion visa to Germany being the brother of a German citizen ? If yes then what are the requirements and prcoess. Thanks , awaiting your kind response.

  20. Can anyone guide me that how does this visa process work ! can a German Passport Holder bring his family/relatives ( Brothers ) to Germany ? If yes then how does that work , which visa is required for that ! and also tell me about the Student visa for Germany, I got a response from some of the universities but i’m yet to make sure about the Language learning criteria !! A response will be appreciated !! Thanks

    First of all try to read the details about legalization of your birth certificate at German Embasy Riyadh Website.
    Additionaly, you can contact them via call / phone to confirm further details. I expect that they can do legalization via courier (TCS).

        That’s really insane. Now find someone there in KSA who can go in person to embassy. Otherwise, you have to go there by yourself :(. Otherwise, you can also search someone in UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait or Oman etc who can visit Riyadh on your behalf.

    1. mera interview k time mujha se interview k duran just phone number german mein pocha tha n and kahan se aya ho aur kia kam krta ho, tb mene A1 certificate bi nai dia tha, lekin jb certificate mila mene email k through bhaja tha n os k 1 week bd visa call ah gayi thi
